Butterflies for Sierra!
posted April 20, 2011

Sierra writes,
“I became a part of the GRuB family during the summer of 2010 and luckily got to continue through the academic year program. I’m 16 years old and I’m a junior in high school. Before GRuB, I really didn’t care about anything and I was a very negative person, and I never thought that I would find a light at the end of the tunnel. I honestly just took out my own problems and frustrations on everyone else and bullied them, just to make myself feel better. That is basically what shaped me before opening the GRuB door on the first day of work.
I feel like I have became a strong woman, I have overcome all my challenges and obstacles that have faced me, and I’ve really just transformed into a happier person. Even just driving by GRuB it makes me have butterflies inside and get all excited knowing I am doing something amazing for the community by putting my hands in the soil and changing the world one farm at a time. Getting dirty is something I wasn’t used to, but helping to grow food is such an empowering feeling. Because even if some people have to go to the food bank they should still have the choice of fresh produce. Since we have GRuB I think it really helps Olympia strive to end hunger, one community at a time.”
Sierra and all of us at GRuB thank you for your support of our work to empower youth & families! Thank you for providing a week’s worth of wages for Sierra!
